before the cleanse

Planning and preparation

Adequate planning and preparation is just as important as the cleanse itself.

The good news is that it’s common sense – you want to make sure your body is ready to go without many of the toxins that you normally put into it.

Preparing also means that you will get a better result. If your body doesn't have to work to get rid of recent toxins (consumed in the days leading up to the cleanse), then it can go to work on the deeper toxins, delivering a stronger cleanse result.

Start to cut down on some of the nasties

Beginning three to five days before your cleanse, you should gradually reduce or eliminate the following:

  • Processed foods
  • Sugar (especially refined sugar)
  • Dairy
  • Red meat
  • Alcohol
  • White stuff (white bread, pasta and rice)
  • Caffeine and other stimulants (including cigarettes)

If you're a coffee drinker, we strongly suggest you gradually ease off it unless you want to run the risk of headaches by going cold turkey. One of the biggest detox symptoms we hear from our clients is caffeine withdrawal headaches. Do yourself a favour and cut back beforehand.

You can substitute the foods listed above by increasing the your consumption of fruit and vegetables, particularly raw.

As well as all of that (not too hard really), drink loads of water (sip slowly so it doesn't go straight through you). The more you can prepare and flush your system beforehand, the better your result will be.
